Welcome to the Monk Focus ("Extension"), provided by Vikrant Panjiyar ("we," "us," or "our"). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information in relation to the Extension.

This Extension is designed with your privacy as a top priority. It operates entirely on your local device (your browser) and does not collect, store, or transmit any of your personal data to us or any third party.

1) Data We Do Not Collect

We want to be crystal clear: we do not collect any personally identifiable information (PII) or sensitive data. The Extension does not have the functionality to collect, record, or transmit any of the following:

  • Your name, email address, or other contact information.
  • Your browsing history, visited URLs, or search queries.
  • Data from your online accounts.
  • Your IP address or location information.
  • Any data you type into forms on websites.

2) Information Handled by the Extension (Locally)

The Extension stores certain data locally on your computer using the browser’s built-in storage (chrome.storage.local) to function correctly. This data is stored only on your device and never sent to our servers or any third party. This includes:

  • Focus Sites List: The websites you have marked as "focus sites".
  • Focus Mode Status: Whether focus mode is currently enabled or disabled.
  • Timer Settings: The focus timer duration and its end time.

You can clear all this data anytime by uninstalling the Extension.

3) Permissions and Their Usage

The Extension requires certain browser permissions to function as intended. Here's how each is used:

  • storage: Saves your focus sites list and timer settings locally.
  • tabs & activeTab: Accesses the current tab’s URL to allow checking and adding it to your focus list. This happens locally in your browser.
  • scripting: Injects a blocking message into websites not in your focus list. No data is read or collected from pages.
  • host_permissions (<all_urls>): Allows scripting on all websites to apply the blocking screen as needed.

4) No Third-Party Services

The Focus Mode Extension does not use or integrate with any third-party services, analytics platforms, or advertising networks. No external scripts or trackers are included.

5) Data Security

All data is stored in your browser's secure local storage. Since no data is sent to our servers, your data’s security is reliant on your own browser and device’s protections.

6) Children’s Privacy

We do not knowingly collect any information from children under the age of 13. The Extension is safe for all age groups because it does not collect any data.

7) Changes to This Privacy Policy

This policy may be updated occasionally. When that happens, the "Last Updated" date will be revised. We encourage users to review the policy periodically.
