Growing Old So Fast | A Short Poem on life phases

Growing Old So Fast | A Short Poem on life phases

Then kid

Then young

Then old it goes

When you let life change and grow

[Childhood]

Then hands to hands, person to person

Then the strong muscles and stood on his own legs

Then spoke words that finally made sense

When the baby grew into a kid

Then pure heart and freedom to express

Then pressure to learn and dreams to chase

Then creepy chapters of books and exams to cry

That stopped him from even trying

That absolute dream that he really had

When the kid started growing so hard

Then, the seeds of society got implanted in mind,

And he made friends, many of whom lied

Then suddenly image and fame were more crucial than just the right

Then came restriction on freedom of choice,

To choose what the heart didn’t deny

When the brain went on the track

Set by weak people for years, but was a real lie

[Student life]

Then asking money from parents was alright

Then ideas and passion were so bright

Then going abroad or struggling with no support was the only left choice

When a student grew so fast and made a decision that could be his last

[Marriage and Children]

Then job, marriage, and paycheck; a clerk,

Or own a company with employees that make money in bulk

Then children, family, and responsibilities grew high

Then, the children grew and the wife described,

What, and, when, and, where, and, why

All the time,

So loud,

He didn’t even know ‘the why’

Then he lived for not his life,

But to raise a family and keep them above so high

When the man grew up, gave more lives, left his passion, and lived for the child

[Children Grown Up]

Then the blessings from parents were not in the options, they left the earth and he did cry

Then no more voice for him could rise

Then asking money from children was not so right

When his children grew up to be men,

And he couldn’t work as his old age was coming alive

[Old Age and Death]

Then came the stage of life when the muscles were not so tight

Then came the stage of life when eyes and ears tried so hard

To listen and see those who were not around

Then no love, no lies,

No money could keep his cells alive

When the old man lived the last part of his life

Tried so hard

Cried his last

Counted the days and depression in mind,

Fear of being left behind by own people and all around

Then came the tears in the eyes

Then became the skin too dry

Then came in the mind the memories of his life,

the phases, and real treasures of life

Then all treatment for him became no more a choice

As he was in pain and living more will be worse than to die

Then the beautiful flower became ready to fall apart

Then the soul was ready to depart

Then cells stopped replicating and went not so far

Then mitochondria died,

Then organs failed,

Then the soul left him,

Then suddenly everyone called him a BODY

When old age came to an end and he did die

With only story left behind

With only memories left behind.
